Ghost Train from the Future | Whitland, Carmarthenshire
I recently visited Whitland in Carmarthenshire for my first Halloween/ Nos Calan Gaeaf talk of the 2026 spooky season – the first of many!
It was also my first gig in Whitland ever, and when speaking somewhere for the first time, I like to rummage through my books for a local ghost story or piece of folklore I can weave into my repertoire.
In this case, I found one of the strangest stories that first appeared in my very first spooky book, Ghosts of Wales: Accounts from the Victorian Archives, in which a farmer hears and feels a ghost train years before the tracks have even been laid.
In this little on-the-road vlog, I visit Whitland train station and explore the strange story of the Ghost Train from the Future, as well as the Welsh tradition of second sight and some of the other spooky experiences people shared with me after the Halloween talk.
Watch the video below, or check out The Ghost Train from the Future on YouTube.
Oh, and while filming my eerie wrap-up in the dark, something decides to bang the roof of my car, which may or not be the urban legend in which it turns out to be someone banging a head and, well, you know how that one ends…
Happy Halloween/ Nos Calan Gaeaf hapus – and see you at the next talk.
Until next time… nos da!
