Swansea’s Bogeyman | Mr Tinsel Fingers & The Miracles of St Alban

During a recent Ghosts & Folklore of Wales Halloween talk in Swansea, I filmed a quick cultural adventure at St Alban’s Church in Treboeth.

It was absolutely chucking it down – tipping it down! – but I still managed to have a quick look around this beautiful Gothic church to talk about the remarkably gruesome miracles of St Alban, whose vita gets a little bit bonkers at times.

But that’s not all!

When I was at school in Swansea, there was a strange local bogeyman figure known as Mr Tinsel Fingers (yep – Mr Tinsel Fingers!) – a tall, shadowy figure with a top hat and very long fingers. A bit like Max Schreck’s Nosferatu, or at least, he was in my memory…

So, in this vlog, I explore St Alban, Swansea folklore, and my very hazy memories of Mr Tinsel Fingers. Does anyone else remember him, or have I somehow dredged him up from the depths of my own imagination?
